Rocca
Rocca is a small typical podenca from Andalusia. For a long time she lived all alone and terrified of people deep in the field. Far through the tall grass she has her permanent hiding place from humans and from the world that is so scary to her. A few trees for shade, a few rocks to hide behind. She made it her own safe home. Every day I put water and food at a safe distance which she watches from afar when I put it down. She waits until I get back in the car and have driven far enough away to go to the feeding place to eat. In April I caught her together with a friend Chantal with the trap cage for sterilization. The fear of humans is so extreme that she is not suitable for adoption. We had to have her completely sedated immediately after catching her because she would completely damage herself in her attempts to escape from the humans who were much too close to her. Immediately after the sterilization she was released in her own safe part of the world. Away from humans and under her own tree. Sometimes it is better to respect that some dogs like her will never be able or willing to become a pet. With the help of Manos Amigas she can live her best life the way she wants.
A few months ago I brought her her daily food and water and I didn't see two big ears sticking out above the tall grass but 4! She had found a boyfriend who has developed just as deep-rooted a fear of people as she does. Two souls who find each other, who keep each other company, keep each other warm in the winter and care for each other and love each other. I call her boyfriend Rocco.
Rocco and Rocca, they live as they have chosen and we keep an eye on them from a safe distance and provide them with water, food and if necessary medical care and also love, even if it is from a distance, we are convinced that they know that we care about them.
Rocca has already found her virtual owner on the day she walked into the trap for sterilization because at the same time she also walked straight into the heart of Chantal (a friend who helped with the castration project and now supports her virtually)
Rocca (reserved Chantal)
Your virtual adoption helps us continue to support them with food, medical care and love.
The cats/dogs were all helped by Manos Amigas via the TNR method, which stands for Trap-Neuter-Return (catch, neutralize and return).
The cats on our site are street cats, therefore they are not suitable for adoption into a home.
